Registered Provisional Psychologist | MEd
Mr. La Liberte is currently accepting adults (18+) for individual therapy.
Mr. Adison La Liberte is a registered provisional psychologist with an MEd in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta. He offers individual therapy to adults (18 years and older).
Mr. La Liberte has experience working with clients with many different cultural identities and experiences, including LGBTQIA+ clients, South Asian and East Asian immigrant clients, and clients living with developmental disabilities. In addition to working with clients from diverse backgrounds, he has supported clients to navigate a variety of mental health concerns including sleep difficulties, ADHD, depression, anxiety and panic attacks, men’s issues, feeling stuck and relationship issues. During his master’s degree, his research and academic work centered around supporting Métis clients experiencing disconnection from their Indigenous culture.
Mr. La Liberte’s theoretical approach is predominantly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), though he also incorporates key aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy (NT). Mr. La Liberte has a keen interest in integrating Western therapy models with decolonial and liberative practice. You can expect a combination of these therapeutic modalities in a client-centred, collaborative, and culturally sensitive approach when working with him.
Being an Otipemisiwak (Métis) man from rural Northern Alberta, Mr. La Liberte understands the struggles of low access for many Albertans, whether it be with cultural support, mental health support, or beyond. He also brings a curious and open perspective to understanding the diverse problems people face in urban centers. Mr. La Liberte is a kind and gentle individual and finds it a great privilege to work with clients through their struggles.
