Ms. Chan is currently offering individual therapy to adults (18 years and older), teenagers (ages 12 to 17), and family therapy sessions.
Ms. Chan is a registered occupational therapist, with a master's degree from the University of Manitoba.
She started her career in physical medicine working in inpatient, acute care, post-surgery, and rehabilitation medicine settings. However, through her work experiences, she has found her passion resides in mental health. For the past 11 years, she has worked in both psychiatric inpatient settings as well as community-based mental health clinics. Ms. Chan has extensive clinical training and experience working with various mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, addictions, interpersonal relationship issues, and trauma to name a few.
Regarding her training background and therapeutic approach, Ms. Chan has specialized and advanced training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFBT), Narrative Therapy (NT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Ms. Chan will use a combination of these therapeutic modalities to create a tailored plan for you.
She is a firm believer that everyone deserves the opportunity to build a meaningful and rewarding life, but sometimes, this can feel out of reach, confusing, and even impossible. With a focus on emotions, behaviour, and function, Ms. Chan works collaboratively with her clientele to help build the tools and skills needed for each individual to feel like they are confidently in the driver's seat of their life. Ms. Chan is a charismatic and warm individual who operates from a skills-based approach providing clients with therapeutic services in a safe and nonjudgemental space.
